Job purpose

The Economic Development Coordinator serves as a member of the Town Administrator’s executive team and to provide guidance and leadership in community outreach with businesses, associations, media relations, event planning, web site administration, and supervision of the Town’s publications and media releases.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement economic and community development plans, programs and services.
  • Working closely with business owners and promoting business and economic development interests within the Town
  • Planning , coordinating and implementation of Economic Development activities included in the Bristol Comprehensive Plan
  • Introduce new innovative ideas and initiatives for consideration and implementation that have proved success in other cities and towns
  • Provide guidance and assistance to existing and prospective businesses regarding growth, sustainability, funding opportunities, tax incentives, expansion, job training and other areas of need
  • Work with the Department of Community Development, assisting business with permitting and other business requirements.
  • Work closely with all Departments within the Town regarding any and all issues that Bristol businesses face
  • Develop and implement an Economic Strategic Plan that will be inclusive of all stakeholders
  • Liaison to other local and State Economic Development agencies and organizations
  • Oversee management of the town’s website
  • Make contact with current business owners on an annual basis (create conferences, events and/or opportunities for networking, resources, expansion, etc)
  • Assist Town Administrator in maintaining open communication with the general public and business community
  • Discharge of mortgage liens on own and earlier loans once completed
  • Work with recipients to enhance goals of Town CDGB Program
  • Plans and coordinates trainings, public hearings, meetings and community events

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business, Planning, or related field.
  • Preferred candidates to have grant management experience and familiarity with regulatory environment
