Senior Accountant/Payroll Administrator


Responsible for monthly financial close preparation and other general ledger functions including cash receipts, cash reconciliation's, general ledger account reconciliation's, fixed asset records, and sales tax compliance. Prepare Letter of Credit transmittals. Also responsible for commission accruals, statements, and payments. Responsible for accurately processing and administrating payroll, 401K contributions, project tracking, verifying regulatory and plan compliance and support HR.

Core Responsibilities

1. Month End Close

  • Prepare month-end financial close information including journal entries, account reconciliation's, and detail account analysis.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reporting.

2. Fixed Asset Records

  • Maintain fixed asset records, including patent and trademarks.
  • Responsible for running depreciation reports and creating journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger fixed asset accounts monthly and keep compliant with sales tax.

3. Cash

  • Track cash transactions daily and apply to customer's accounts. Enter misc. cash receipts.
  • Reconcile general ledger balances for cash accounts and process various cash entries.

4. Letter Of Credit

  • Double check letter of credit for accuracy. Process per guide lines on letter of credit. Fill out transmittal letter and courier along with appropriate papers.

5. Commission Reporting

  • Responsible for tracking Rep commissions monthly.
  • In charge of processing accruals, updating statements, and sending out payments on a monthly basis.

6. Assist Others

  • Assist other accountants with various functions, including budgets, cost accounting, report creation, and audit preparation, etc.
  • May review work of accounting clerks.

7. Payroll

  • Process an accurate payroll on a bi-weekly basis by processing any changes occurring for an employee and entering timesheets accurately into ADP system.

8. 401K

  • Receive 401K report from ADP, check for accuracy, send controls to Wells Fargo for verification of amount to be deducted from bank account.

9. Project Tracking

  • Make changes when necessary. Input data into project tracking from employee timesheets. Print journal entry to enter.

10. Month End

  • Verify ADP's journal entry for accuracy and enter. Reconcile payroll accounts and make any other necessary journal entries.

11. Supervising

· Supervises lower level clerks.

Experience, Education and Competencies Required

1. Education and Experience

  • College degree plus 4 years related experience required.

2. Competencies

  • Exercises professional judgment to resolve moderately complex accounting problems. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of organization, both written and oral.
  • Strong and accurate PC and 10-key skills, especially Excel. Experience with payroll application software.
  • Strong ADP knowledge necessary.
